with M.G.L. C.30B, Section 16 (a copy of which statute is attached for your
information).

This is the Open Space and Recreation Committee’s October 2002 Semi-Annual
Report in accordance with its founding Charter.
Funding:
Worked with the Planning Department in applying for a planning grant for the
Green’s Hill property.
Land acquisition:

Worked with the Mayor and Planning Department in acquisition of the Hill Property.
This property was needed to preserve Sally Milligan Park.
Continued negotiation with other property owners in preserving open space.
Inventory and Plans:
Finalized the Action Plan 2002 and are preparing the plan for distribution.
Trail Mapping:
Continued development of trail maps.
Public Participation:
Conducted field walks and public events on Earth Day and Biodiversity Day.
Conducted field walk to Obear Park with Ayers School children.
Future Activities:
The Committee is discussing how best to support the City Administration and Boards
in preserving and managing open space.
