Councilor Tim Flaherty welcomed everyone and thanked them for their willingness to
serve on this Board. He stated that he conceived the idea of this Board many years ago
and is happy to report that it is finally come to fruition. He stated that his idea of the
Committee is to have this board make recommendations to the Mayor for improvement to
areas in Beverly. For instance, planting flowers under Welcome to Beverly Signs or
removing too many signs that clutter an area. He stressed that he would welcome any
suggestions and looks forward to the anticipated improvements.
Hurlburt asked the Committee for some suggestions for improvements. The Committee
discussed ideas such as improvements to the Traffic Island program, interior and exterior
improvements to City Hall, Street Sweeping, planting flowers under Welcome to Beverly
Signs, clean up on entrance corridors, and holding a Community Pride Day.
The Board then discussed good times for the Committee to met and it was determined
that morning meetings may work best. The Committee agreed that the next meeting
should be held on December 9, 2002 at 8:30 a.m. at Beverly City Hall.
Hurlburt thanked everyone for attending.
