Minutes of Meeting
March 2, t999
The meeting was celled to order at 10:05 A.M. Present were Members Bornstein and
Killilea, Superintendent Knowlton, Attorney Darling and Linda Vaughen, Secretary. In the
absence of Chairman Fletcher, Member Bornstein chaired the meeting.
The January and February minutes were approved on a motion by Mr. Killilea, second Mr.
Bornstein, all in favor.
Current Expense warrant #20, and Payroll warrant #20, were signed. There were no
special accounts to be signed.
Reports from Attorney Darling:
A: As requested by the Chairman, Attomey Darling presented each member with a
chronological list of requirements for each city contained in the DEP interim modified water
withdrawal permit. Discussion followed. Mr. Bornstein and Mr. Killilea will meet to discuss
the forms required by the state.
B: The Beverly Conservation Commission will be sending a letter detailing the
Commission's concerns about possible wetlands impacts to a certain area of Water Board
property. When the letter is received there will be further discussion.
A motion was made by Mr. Killilea, second Mr. Bornstein that all future correspondence to
the Water Board from the Commission be sent to the attention of the Chairman, Mr.
Fletcher. It will then be discussed by the Board. All in favor.
Accept Bids for Slurry Pump and Mixer:
Low bid was received from ITT Flygt Corporation: $4,680.00 for the mixer, $4,770.00 for
the pump.
On a motion by Mr. Killilea, second Mr. Bornstein the Board voted to accept the bid from
ITT Flygt. All in favor.
Quality and Quantity: Quality remains good. All water supplies are full. We are running
the Salem system about 4' lower.
Old Business: Mr. Knowlton reported that 3 new trucks are on order. The Water Board
has 2 surplus trucks, a 150 pick-up and a Bronco. They are well-maintained but have high
mileage and body rust. They have no trade-in value. The cities may be interested in
obtaining these vehicles for back. up or parts.

The next meeting of the Salem and Beverly Water Supply Board will be on Tuesday,
April 13, 1999 at 10:00 AM.
Having no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 on a motion by
Mr. Killilea, second Mr. Bornstein, all in favor.
