1690-06-24[Town Meeting June 24, 1690] th The 24 of June 1690. Choice ofAt a general town meeting legally warned they were chosen for selectmenSelectmen for one whole year from ye date thereof viz: Mr. Thomas West, Mr. 1690Thomas Woodbury, sr., Mr. Samuel Balch, Mr. Samuel Corning, Mr. Robert Bradford. Choice ofAt ye same meeting Capt John Dodge was chosen Constable for one Constableswhole year for Bass River ward in our town of Beverly from the date hereof. And also Richard Woodbury was chosen Constable for Mackerel Cove ward for said year. Both said Dodge & Woodbury acquitted themselves of serving as Constables, one being a Captain, the other listed himself a soldier. A new The 3 of July 1690 by the inhabitants then convened at a general town choice ofmeeting legally warned Freeborn Balch was chosen Constable for Bass River Constablesward in our town of Beverly & to serve as a constable for one whole year from 1690ye date hereof. At ye. same meeting Robert Briscoe was chosen Constable for Mackerel Cove ward in our town of Beverly & to serve as a Constable for one whole year from the date hereof. th The 19 of June 1690, Lieut. William Dodge, maltster, was allowed his town rate, William Elliott being then Constable and stands indebted unto the town and must be deducted out of said Dodge’s credit elsewhere in this book one third part of it money 01-02-06.
