1712-07-01[Town Meeting July 1, 1712] Essex ss To Benjamin Trask, Constable Beverly. Greeting. In his Majesty’s name you are required forthwith to warn and give notice unto all the inhabitants of our town in your ward who by law are qualified for voting in town affairs that they assemble and meet together at our usual places of public meeting upon Tuesday the first day of July next ensuing the date hereof at one of the clock in the afternoon. Then and there to consider of and make answer unto what shall be proposed unto them by Left. Robert Briscoe referring to a bell which he hath procured: designedly for the use of the Town of Beverly also to consider of and conclude upon some way to raise money for the payment of the said town’s present debts and to defraying the growing charge of the same: and hereof make return at the time & place aforesaid fail not as you will answer your default under the pains & penalties of ye law in that behalf made & provided Dated at Beverly June 23d anno Domini 1712.
