1682-11-06[Town Meeting November 6, 1682] 6: of November 1682. At a general town meeting legally warned there was chosen for Selectmen this instant year Lieut. Paul Thorndike, Thomas West, Peter Woodberry, Exercise Conant & Nehemiah Grover. At the same town meeting there was chosen to serve upon the jury of trials at Salem the last Tuesday of this instant month William Dodge: malster. At a general town meeting November the 6, 1682 it was voted that the carpenters that build the new meeting house shall be agreed with (also if we can agree upon reasonable terms) to enlarge the galleries one seat forwards. th The 6 9 mo. 1682. At a general town meeting it was voted that the money that was given by contribution in Beverly for the redemption of John Hull and is in the hands of Deacon Woodberry as likewise the money in the hands of John Dodge that was voted [and] given here for the redemption of one Litchfield, a woman, be improved towards the defraying the charge of the enlargement of the galleries mentioned above bearing the same date with this. th 6:9:1682 it was voted that the committee chosen the 5 of December 1681 to procure a new meeting house built be appointed to agree with the carpenter to enlarge the galleries one seat forwards in each gallery. 6:9:1682. At a general town meeting that was granted to Tobias Trow one acre of land at the [illegible] by land of Mr. Hardy’s upon this condition viz that he do live in the town and improve it ten years or be taken away by death though before the ten years be expired having lived in the town while then, then said land to be to him and his heirs forever but if the said Trow should remove out of the town before the ten years be expired then the said land to return to the town. 13:1:16 84 (?) Ensign Corning and Andrew Elliott sen. being then Selectmen laid out the abovesaid acre of land. 6:9:1682. At a general town meeting there was granted to Mordechai Larcom sen..four acres of land to be laid out by the stream near Bald Hill near the land of Nehemiah Grover which four acres is in lieu of a former grant of six acres to have been laid out near Turnip Swamp.
