1676-12-05At a public town meeting the 5th of December 1676, Thomas West chosen a Constable for the year ensuing. At the same town meeting 5:10:1676 upon consideration of the extraordinary trouble that is occasioned to a Constable by reason of the difficulties of the times on the account of the war it was voted we shall have two Constables for the year ensuing. At the same town meeting Dec. 5,1676 Samuel Balch was chosen likewise a Constable for the year ensuing. thth At the same town meeting 5, 10, 1676 it was voted that the money due to the town from Mrs. Grafton formally paid unto Capt. Lathrop for the procuring of a stock of ammunition shall be suspended still in her hands and shall not be required by the selectmen till the town give further order. th At a general town meeting 5 of December 1676 upon a motion of request or William Elliott for a piece of ground to settle upon. It was granted to the said William Elliott that he shall have one acre of that land which the town had of John Sampson lying by the country highway near the now dwelling house of Thomas Blashfield to him and heirs forever to his and their own proper use and behoof provided that the said Elliott do continue in the town term of his life and likewise do continue to make use of his trade, but if the said Elliott William Elliott shall remove out of the town or shall leave off following of his trade than the above said acre of land shall return to the town or else the said William Elliott shall pay or cause to be paid the full just sum of 3 pounds in consideration of the acre of land.
