1672-05-08[May 8,1672] th At a general Town meeting the 8 of May 1672 there were chosen by vote Capt. Lathrop, Mr. Conant, William Dodge sen. to attend the next Town meeting of Salem to act in our town’s behalf concerning the limits of our Town. At the same meeting it was voted that Wm. Dodge sen., John West, Humphrey Woodberry & Osmund Trask shall find out a convenient place to set the Town pound. th At the said meeting the 8 may’ 72 the acre of land bought by the town of Lieutenant Wm. Dixsy for a burial place with half an acre of Ensign Corning & that parcel of land he had of Josiah Roots is exchanged with John Lovett jun. for one acre of land on part whereof the public meeting house standeth beginning at the bound tree on the Northeast & so to make up the complete acre towards the house of said John Lovett. th 8 May’ 72 there is Liberty granted to Mistress Lathrop to make a seat convenient by the chief pillar in the meeting house. It is also agreed that the meeting house be sealed with boards up to the wall plate rabbited & the windows glazed.
