1669-09-14[September 14, 1669] thth At a Town Meeting this 14 day of the 7 month ‘69 it is agreed upon that the Selectmen formerly chosen shall make the Rate for Mr. Hale’s maintenance for the year past & year present and John West and Benjamin Balch are chosen to see it. At a Town Meeting by the Inhabitants of Beverly it was agreed upon by a general vote that Mr. Hale his wood shall be brought home to his house by the last second day of October ensuing & Lieutenant Dixsy, John West, Thomas Pickton & Peter Woodberry are to manage the work by proportioning the cutting and carting equally. To effect the same & upon the defect of any person the said men shall levy upon the Carter 6£, 8D. and upon the Cutter 3£, 4d. to supply with wood.
