1783-09-15[Town Meeting September 15, 1783] At a meeting of the Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Beverly legally warned and th assembled on Sept. 15, 1783 Capt. James Lovett was chosen moderator. The question was put to see if it was the mind of this town that all the courts of law and offices of Register of Deeds and Register of Probate and Clerk of the Common Pleas and Sessions in the County of Essex be held and kept in the town of Ipswich and it passed in the negative. Voted that Mr. Nathan Dane their Representative be hereby appointed as their agent to appear on the second Tuesday of the next sitting of the General Court and is hereby instructed to conduct himself agreeable to the above said vote of the town. Voted that the second and third articles of the warrant for calling of this meeting be referred to the next March meeting to be there acted upon. Meeting dissolved.
