At a Legal Meeting of the Inhabitants of the Town of Beverly December 11 1781.
Col. Larcom Thorndike was chosen Moderator.
Voted. That Col. Larkin Thorndike, Mr. Nathan Dane and Joseph Wood be a committee in behalf
of the Town to petition to the Honorable General Court for to have part of the
Commonwealth tax last sent for from this Town taken off or abated.
Voted. That the sum of five hundred pounds be assessed and raised on the polls and estates within
said Town for the purposes of paying the interest that is due on the Town’s securities and for
defraying of the necessary charges arising within said Town.
Voted. That the Selectmen be empowered to grant Capt. Simeon Brown liberty to accommodate
himself with a way to a shop and tan house as they shall think will be for the best.
Meeting dissolved.
