1780-07-18At a Legal meeting of the Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Beverly verbally warned th and held on July 18 1780. Col. Larkin Thorndike was chosen Moderator. Voted. That the Selectmen be directed to proceed and procure the horses sent for from this Town rd by resolve of the General Court of the 23 of June last by purchasing of them in the best manner they can and draw money sufficient for the purpose out of the Town’s Treasurer or agree for to pay for the same in notes agreeable to said resolve or in such way and manner as they shall think best. Mr. William Hazeltine was chosen to serve Constable in the room of Elisha Woodberry, refusing to serve, it going for said Woodberry’s term etc.
