vote in Town affairs & that are free men and 21 years of age legally warned assembled on the third
day of August 1779.

The proceedings of the Convention that was held at Concord on the 14 of July was taken under
consideration. Upon motion made.
Voted. That they highly approve of the proceedings of the Convention that was held at Concord on

the 14 of July last and do hereby declare that they will do all in their power to carry the same
into effect.
Voted. That the Selectmen together with Capt. Moses Brown, Capt. George Cabot, William Bartlett
Esq., Mr. William Green, Lieut. Samuel Cole, Jonathan Conant Esq., Capt. Benjamin Lovett
Jr. & Mr. Benjamin Smith be a Committee in behalf of the town four to carry that above said
proceedings of the Convention held at Concord into effect. To estimate the prices of
European manufacturers etc. regulate the prices of innholders, labor, teaming, manufactures
and other articles & agreeable to the results of said Convention and make report at the
adjournment of this Meeting.
Capt. George Cabot & Joseph Wood were elected and appointed delegates to represent them in a
Convention appointed by the Great and General Court to meet at Cambridge in the County of
Middlesex on the first day in September next for the sole purpose of framing of a New Constitution.
Voted. That Capt. George Cabot and Joseph Wood, delegates of this Town for forming a New
Constitution, be instructed that when the Convention shall agree on a New Constitution that
they cause the same to be proceeded with agreeable to the Resolves of the General Quarter

of the 15 of June 1779.
Town meeting was adjourned to Monday the 9th instant at five o’clock p.m.

At a Legal meeting of the Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Beverly on the 9 day
of August 1779 being on adjournment.
Voted. That the list of prices & Resolves affixed by the Committee appointed for the purpose be
accepted and adopted to be the prices & Regulations of this Town till further order of the
Town which list is on file in the Town Clerk’s office.
Voted. That the Committee appointed to set prices to labor etc. be directed to ascertain the prices
of sundry articles from the neighboring Towns which are referred to in the list of prices by this
accepted and set them and set them in said list and for to collect the proceedings of the
neighboring Towns and propose such alteration and amendments of said list to the Town as
they shall think necessary.
Voted. That attested copy of the List of Prices be posted up in the same places where the notification
for warnings of Town meetings are put up, which was accordingly done.
Voted. That the Resolves and List of Prices be printed in hand bills for the use of the Inhabitants of
the Town.
