At a Legal meeting of the Inhabitants of Beverly Feb. 181778.
Mr. Benjamin Beckford was chosen Moderator.
Voted the Capt. John Woodberry be hereby empowered in behalf of the Town to hire or procure five
men in the best manner he can to enlist into the Continental Army for this Town to complete
their quota in the Continental Army for three years or during the war.
Voted that Col. Herrick, Town Treasurer, be and is hereby desired and empowered in behalf of this
Town to hire and deliver unto Capt. John Woodberry a sufficient sum of money to hire and
procure the above said five men and make report thereof to the Town at their next March
meeting.
