At a Legal Meeting of the Inhabitants of Beverly Feb. 16 1778.
Mr. Richard Leech was chosen Moderator.
Voted. To choose a Committee of five persons to remove all those persons that are under the
operation of the small pox the natural way or by inoculation in this Town to Doctor
Woodberry’s house forthwith if it can be done with safety.
Voted. That Mr. Joseph Raymond, Lieut. Peter Shaw, Dea. Benjamin Cleaves, Mr. George
Raymond Jr. & Mr. William Trask 2nd be the above said Committee.
Voted. That Doctor Orne & Doctor Woodberry be joined with the above said Committee and give
their opinion whether those persons that have got the small pox as abovesaid can be moved
with safety to their lives.
Voted. That the above said Committee be hereby empowered and desired to examine and make strict
inquiry of all persons they shall suspect to be inoculated with the small pox in this Town and
who the persons are that inoculated them and make report to the next March meeting.
