1775-03-29th At a meeting of the Freeholders and other Inhabitants of the Town of Beverly March 29 1775. Mr. Samuel Goodridge was chosen Moderator. Voted that the vote passed at the late town meeting relating to paying their Minutemen should hence forward cease. Voted that the Town choose a Committee to wait upon Col. Henry Herrick paymaster of the Minutemen. Voted Capt. Larkin Thorndike, Mr. Ebenezer Trask and Capt. Joshua Cleaves be said committee. Voted that said Committee be instructed to wait upon Col. Henry Herrick and desire him not to pay any Minutemen any money for their past services and if he has not hired any money, not to hire any and if he has hired any money to repay the same as soon as may be.
