1846-05-04 ElectionEssex, ss. Beverly. To one of the Constables of said Town - Greeting - You are hereby required in the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to notify and warn the qualified voters of said town of Beverly, in the usual manner, to meet at the Town Hall on Monday the fourth day of May next, at one o’clock in the afternoon - for the purpose of electing a Register of Deeds for said County for the term of five years from the last annual meeting of said Town, agreeably to a notice from the County Commissioners of said County of Essex - the poll will close at three o’clock P.M. unless otherwise ordered by the town. The first business will be to decide the manner of choosing Moderator, and to choose the same- Hereof fail not, but make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon before said time- Given under our hands and seal, this twenty fifth day of April, in the year Eighteen hundred & forty six. Whitney Beverly th Beverly, April 27, 1846 - Pursuant to the foregoing warrant I have notified the persons therein named, as therein directed, William D. Crosfield, Constable all of Beverly. At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the town of Beverly, in the County of Essex holden on the fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six, (at one o’clock afternoon, pursuant to the above warrant, when said meeting voted to choose a Moderator by hand vote, and Wm. H. Lovett was thus chosen - and the Town voted, to close the poll at 3 o’clock P.M.) The votes of the Inhabitants of said Town qualified to vote for Representatives in the General Court, for a Register of Deeds, having been duly received, were sorted in open Town Meeting by the Moderator thereof, and the Town Clerk, and were as follows: Whole number of ballots - One hundred and four, votes. ForRalph H. French, Thirty nine votes. John I. Baker, Thirty four votes. Eleazar M. Dalton, Sixteen votes. Jonathan Shove of Danvers, Eight votes. Jonathan Nayson, Six votes. Haskell D.
