1857-11-04 Election resultsAs required by law, the Town Clerks of the towns of Beverly, Wenham and Topsfield, (which towns compose the Third Representative District of the County of Essex,) did meet together at noon on th Wednesday, November 4 1857, the day following the day of election, at the Town Clerk’s Office in Beverly, and did examine and compare the transcripts of the records of votes given for Representatives in said towns, and said votes were for the following persons. For Robert S. Rantoul of Beverly five hundred twenty-two votes For Francis M. Dodge of Wenham five hundred forty-one votes For Joseph D. and Tuck of Beverly three hundred seventy votes For Nathaniel Conant of Topsfield three hundred fifty-three votes For Daniel Foster of Beverly sixty-one votes For John Adams of Topsfield fifty-nine votes For Charles Stephens of Beverly three votes For John G. Hood of Topsfield one vote For H. Ross one vote For Thomas McAlwyn one vote And Robert S. Rantoul and Francis M. Dodge having a greater number of votes than any other person were declared duly elected as Representatives of said District, and said Clerks did make out a certificate of their election under their hands, and transmit the same by a constable to each person so elected.
