1866-11-03 Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Essex, ss: To one of the Constables of the town of Beverly. Greeting.
You are hereby required, in the name of said Commonwealth, to notify and warn (in the usual
manner) the qualified voters of said Town, to meet at Town Hall on Saturday the Third day of
November next at Three o'clock afternoon, for the following purposes. Viz.:
1st. To decide the manner of choosing a Moderator, and to choose the same.
2d. To see what measures the town will take to cause the highway, known as Rantoul Street, to be
graded in accordance with the plan of the Salem Water Commissioners and act and do anything in
relation thereto, they may think proper.
Here of fail not, but make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon,
before the time appointed for said Meeting.
Given under our hands and seal this twenty-second day of October in the year Eighteen
Hundred and Sixty Six.

named as therein directed by posting notifications thereof at or near each of the public meeting
houses, and other places in town as required by the Town Regulations.

At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the town of Beverly, held, at the Town Hall on Saturday
the Third day of Novernber in the year Eighteen Hundred and Sixty Six at Three o'clock afternoon,
in pursuance of the foregoing warrant. It was voted,-
That a Moderator be chosen by hand vote, and John Pickett was thus chosen Moderator.- (G.
S. Millett & J. I. Baker being previonsly chosen, and both refusing to serve.)
Upon the 2d article of the warrant.- It was
Voted, that the whole subject matter of the Second article in the warrant be referred to the Selectmen,
of this town with full authority in behalf of the town to co-operate with the Water Commissioners
of the City of Salem in establishing the grade of Rantoul Street, by new grading thereof or otherwise
as to said Selectmen shall seem proper, incurring such proportion of liability on behalf of the town,
as to said Selectmen shall seem just and reasonable.
Voted, this meeting be dissolved, and it was so declared dissolved, by the Moderator.
