BMVMRLY CITY COUNCIL - MONDAY, OCTOBMR 16, 1995 ROT.T- C~T.T.: PRESENT: Coughlin, Gilmore, Golin, Mahan, McGlynn, Rollins, Troubetaris and Nardella ABSENT: None PLMDGI OF A~MOIAMCM TO THE F~AG: Led by Councilor Gilmore Murray, COMMUNICATIONS FROM HIS HONOR THE MAYOR: #430 Honorable City Council City Hall Dear Honorable Council: It has come to my attention that the North Shore Regional Vocational School District has increased its assessment to the City of Beverly for the current fiscal year by $179,801 beyond the amount budgeted. Specifically, after we had completed our budget and voted on same, we were given notice dated 30 June, but actually received in July, of a revised assessment. It should be added that the significance of the revised assessment was not appreciated until more recently, approximately ten days ago, when the first bill of the year was received. We have no choice but to accept this revised assessment. I have met with City and School officials to discuss same and there may be small amounts within the assessment which are subject to further debate. For now I see no choice but to plan to charge the Mayor's account "Reserve for Unforeseen" with this cost although I am optimistic about finding other favorable variances in our budget which will cover this charge. I believe people's guard has been raised regarding similar occurrences in the future. Please regard this note as advisory only at this time. specific action later.
