1881-10-18Commonwealth of Massachusetts Essex, ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Beverly, in said County: Greeting You are hereby directed to notify and warn, in the manner prescribed by the Regulations of the town, the qualified voters of said town to meet at the Town Hall in said Beverly, on Tuesday, the eighteenth day of October current at thirty minutes past seven o'clock in the afternoon, for the following purposes, viz: 1st. To decide the manner of choosing a Moderator and to choose the same. 2d. To see if the town will adopt a corporate seal and who shall have the custody of same. 3d. To see if the Town will authorize the issue of bonds under Chapter 231 of the Acts of the Legislature for the year eighteen hundred and eighty one, entitled "An Act to Authorize the Town of Beverly to Refund Its Indebtedness," and on what terms and under what regulations. Hereof fail not, but make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, before the time of holding said meeting. Lovett, Town Clerk At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the town of Beverly held, in pursuance of the warrant recorded on the next preceding page, at the Town Hall in said town on Tuesday the eighteenth day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty one at thirty minutes past seven o'clock in the afternoon, the Meeting having been called to order, at the time appointed by the Town Clerk who read the warrant therefor. It was Voted that the Moderator be chosen by hand vote Voted that Freeborn W. Cressy be Moderator Upon Article 2 (Corporate Seal) Upon motion of Wm. C. Loring it was Voted that a seal of the following design: The shield now used by the Public Library of the town with the motto Bono Publico Laetamur around it and around that, the words Town of Beverly, Mass. 1668. Be and it is hereby adopted as the seal of the Town and that the Treasurer shall have the custody thereof. Upon Article 3 Issue of Bonds Upon motion of Wm. C. Loring it as Voted two thirds of the legal voters present and voting having voted therefor, that the Treasurer be and is hereby authorized, whenever in his discretion he sees fit, to issue bonds of the Town under and in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 231 of the Acts of the Legislature of this Commonwealth for the year 1881 entitled an Act to Authorize the Town of Beverly to refund its Indebtedness. Upon motion of Wm. C. Loring it was Voted that all statements of the Treasurer made under Section three of Chapter 231 of the Acts of the Legislature of this Commonwealth for the year 1881 entitled an Act to Authorize the Town of Beverly to Refund its Indebtedness be entered by the Clerk with the town records. It was Voted that this meeting be dissolved.. And it was so dissolved by the Moderator. A true record. Attest. Wm. H. Lovett, Town Clerk
