To either of the Constables of the town of Beverly in said county, Greeting:
You are hereby directed to notify and warn, in the manner prescribed by the regulations of the town,
the qualified voters of said town to meet at the Town Hall in said Beverly on Monday the sixth day
of September next at seven and one half o'clock in the afternoon for the following purposes viz;
1st. To decide the manner of choosing a Moderator and to choose the same.
2d. To act on the several reports of the Selectmen now on file in the office of the Town Clerk,
laying out town ways as follows, viz;
I. A way in extension of Park Street from Federal Street to Elliott Street. II. A way now known as
Pond Street, extending from Rantoul Street to Mulberry Street. III. A way in extension of Bridge
Street, from said Bridge Street to River Street.
3d. To see if the town will discontinue a portion of the town way at the junction of Abbott
and Endicott Streets, according to a plan and report of the Selectmen on file at the office of the Town
Clerk.
4th To see if the town will set apart a lot of land at the junction of Abbott and Endicott Streets
as a site for a Soldiers' Monument, if the same shall be discontinued as a town way as per Article
Three of this warrant.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, before the
time of holding said meeting.
Given under our hands and seal this twenty-eighth day of August in the year one thousand
eight hundred and eighty.

several places in town required by the Town Regulations.

At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the town of Beverly, held at the Town Hall in
said Town in pursuance of the warrant recorded on the next two preceding pages on Monday the
sixth day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred and eighty at seven and one half
o'clock in the afternoon, the meeting having been called to order by the Town Clerk, who read the
warrant therefor it was
Voted that the Moderator be chosen by hand vote
Voted that Freeborn W. Cressy be Moderator
Upon Article 2 (in relation to laying out certain town ways)
A report of the Selectmen laying out a town way in extension of Park Street from Federal Street to
Elliott Street was read and is as follows;
"Upon the petition of John F. Carter and others the Selectmen of the town of Beverly having
notified, met, and heard the parties interested did proceed to lay out a town way in said town as
follows;
Beginning at a bound at the corner of Federal and Park Streets
one hundred and eighty feet from Rantoul Street, thence running North twenty nine degrees East on
a line running parallel with Rantoul Street over land of Charles A. Lawrence, John I. Baker, and
Charles T. Lovett, about six hundred and forty five feet to Dane Street, continuing thence in the same
direction across Dane Street forty one feet and over land of Charles T. Lovett, Charles A. Lawrence,
John F. Carter and others about five hundred and fifty four feet to Roundy Street, continuing thence
in the same direction across Roundy Street forty feet and over land of Francis S. Herrick and the
Beverly Savings Bank ninety six feet to a bounds thence North thirty four degrees East over land of
the Beverly Savings Bank, John Crampsey and others about two hundred and forty two feet to a
bounds one hundred and eighty feet Northwesterly form Rantoul Street.
Laying out said town way forty feet wide Northwesterly from said described lines.
And we award damages to no person

Voted that said report be accepted and that the way be laid out and established as a town way forever
according to said report.
A report of the Selectmen laying out as a town way the way known as Pond Street was read
and is as follows;
"Upon petition of Israel F. Lee and others, the Selectmen of the town of Beverly having
notified, met, and hear the parties interested did proceed to lay out a town way in said town as
follows:
Beginning at a bounds at the corner of
Rantoul and Pond Streets two hundred and one feet from Federal Street thence running South sixty
one degrees forty five minutes East on a line running parallel with Federal Street over land of John
I. Baker five hundred and fifty eight feet to Mulberry Street to a bounds two hundred and one feet
Northeasterly of Federal Street.
Laying said town way forty feet wide Northeasterly of said described line.
And we award damages to no person.
And we have named this way Pond Street.

forever according to said report.
A report of the Selectmen laying out as a town way a way in extension of Bridge Street from
said Bridge Street to River Street was read and is as follows;
"Upon petition of Israel F. Lee and others, the Selectmen of the town of Beverly having
notified, met, and heard the parties interested did proceed to lay out a town way in said town as
follows.
Beginning at a bounds on River Street at the corner of
said street and land of Calvin Putnam, thence running North sixty nine degrees fifteen minutes West
over land of John I. Baker and others about two hundred and twenty feet to the easterly terminus of
the southerly line of Bridge Street.
Laying said town way sixty feet wide northerly of the said described line.
And we award damages to no person.
And we have named this way Bridge Street in continuation of the street of the same name.

Voted that said report be accepted and that the way be laid out and established as a town way
forever according to said report.
Upon Article 3. Abbott Street
A report of the Selectmen concerning the discontinuing of a part of Abbott Street as a town
way was read and is as follows;
"Upon petition of Edward L. Giddings and others dated August 19, 1880, "to call a town
meeting to consider the question of Abbott and Endicott Streets as a site for a Soldiers' Monument
and to see if the town will discontinue so much of said streets as may be necessary for such purpose"
the Selectmen make the following report.
That so much of Abbott Street laid out August 10, 1868 as will form one
equilateral triangle bounded easterly by Endicott Street seventy five feet, southwesterly by Abbott
Street seventy five feet on a line parallel with and forty feet from the southwesterly line of said street,
northerly by said Abbott Street seventy five feet, said line being forty feet from the north side of
Abbott Street be discontinued for the above purpose.

Voted that said report be accepted and that so much of said way as is described therein and in the
plan annexed thereto (see page 204) be discontinued as a town way forever according to said report
and plan.
Upon Article 4 (Site for Soldiers' Monument)
Upon motion of C. W. Studley it was
Voted that the land discontinued as a town way as per Article Three of the warrant be appropriated
as a site for a Soldiers' Monument.
Upon motion of Joseph Wilson it was
Voted to use the credit of the town to hire the sum of three hundred dollars to defray the expense of
building the streets accepted by the town at this meeting.
Voted that this meeting be dissolved (Time 8:20 P.M.)
