1879-10-15Commonwealth of Massachusetts Essex ss. To either of the constables of the town of Beverly, in said county. Greeting. You are hereby directed to notify and warn, in the manner prescribed by the regulations of the town, the qualified voters of said town to meet at the Town Hall in said Beverly on Wednesday the fifteenth day of October current at seven and one half o'clock P. M. for the following purposes, viz. 1st To choose a Moderator 2d To see what action the Town will take in regard to placing two or more night watchmen in the manufacturing district as per petition of A. Perry & Co., and others and to authorize the Treasurer to use the credit of the town to provide for the payment of the same. Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your doings thereon, before the time of holding said meeting. Beverly October 8th 1879 By virtue of the within Warrant I this day notified the qualified voters of said Beverly by posting a like of the within warrant in said Beverly as within directed. Lovett, Town Clerk At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the Town of Beverly held at the Town Hall in said Town, in pursuance of the warrant recorded on the next preceding page, on Wednesday the fifteenth day of October in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine at seven and one half o'clock P.M., the meeting having been called to order by the Town Clerk, who read the warrant therefor it was Voted that the Moderator be chosen by hand vote Voted that Freeborn W. Cressy be Moderator. Upon the 2d Article in the Warrant Voted upon motion of Robert R. Endicott, that the Selectmen be authorized to provide two night watchmen to be located in the manufacturing district and use the credit of the Town to defray the expense of the same.
