To one of the constables of the town of Beverly. Greeting.
You are hereby required to notify and warn, in the manner prescribed by the regulations of
the town, the qualified voters of said town to meet at the Town Hall in said Beverly on Monday the
fourteenth day of April current at twelve o'clock A. M. for the following purposes, viz.
1st To choose a Moderator
2d to choose a Town Clerk to fill a vacancy in that office. The polls will close at four o 'clock
P.M. unless otherwise ordered by the meeting.
3d To see if the town will amend the By-laws of the town relating to the salary of, and
defining the duties of town clerk.
4th To see if the town will refund taxes paid by Capt. John Bradshaw which he claims were
illegally assessed.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant with your doings thereon before the time
of holding said meeting.
Given under our hands and seal this fifth day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and
seventy nine.

At a legal meeting of the qualified voters of the town of Beverly held at the Town Hall in said town,
in pursuance of the warrant recorded on the next preceding page, on Monday the Fourteenth day of
April in the year Eighteen Hundred and Seventy nine at Twelve o'clock, noon; the meeting was
called to order at the time appointed by Joseph Wilson, Chairman of the Selectmen and the warrant
therefor was read. It was
Voted by ballot that Freeborn W. Cressy be Moderator.
Voted by ballot that William H. Lovett be Town Clerk pro tempore to serve at this meeting.
Then in open town meeting, immediately after the selection of Town Clerk pro tem. William
H. Lovett abovementioned was sworn to the faithful discharge of this duties as Town Clerk pro tem
of Beverly by and before the Moderator.
Upon Article 2
Voted by ballot that William H. Lovett be Town Clerk.
Upon Article 3 Salary and Duties of Town Clerk
Voted to indefinitely postpone all action relating to this Article.
Upon Article 4 John Bradshaw's Taxes
Voted to refer this question to the Board of Assessors.
Voted that this meeting be dissolved.
