1690-06-19[Selectmen June 19, 1690] th At a meeting of the selectmen on ye 19 day of June 1690 at ye house of Deacon Peter Woodberry at which time William Elliott, Constable, brought & presented unto said Selectmen an aquittance from ye Treasurer as followeth viz: two rates and half. th Received this 7 day of January 1689 of Mr. William Elliott, one of the constables of Beverly, ten pounds nine shillings & five pence in money being ye one half of ye money rate of said town. Per me John Phillips, Treasurer. th Charlestown ye 26 of March 1690 Then received of Mr. William Elliott, Constable of Beverly, seven pounds one shilling & two pence in full of the two money rates & half of said town John Phillips, Treasurer It is to be understood that Constable Samuel Morgan’s part of the abovesaid 2 rate and half is paid & is included in ye abovesaid acquittances. th Charlestown ye 18 of June 1690 Then received of Mr. Samuel Morgan & Mr. William Elliott, constables of Beverly, ye sum of forty six pounds ten shillings & ten pence as money in full of ye five rates which they collected of said town by their list given them by ye Selectmen. John Phillips, Treasurer The next above receipt is in full for the five rates above mentioned which said rates did amount in pay unto 69 lb-16s-03 pence, a third abated & so are as money it is in full satisfaction from ye abovesaid constables for said sixty-none pounds sixteen shillings & three pence. At the same meeting of the selectmen Ephraim Herrick was allowed in part of pay for the way laid out through his land his part that was in pay of William Elliott being Constable 00lb-09s-00d. DeaconAt ye same meeting of the selectmen Deacon Peter Woodbury after Woodberryhis rates discounted there remains due unto the Town from said Deacon, out creditof his credit & in part of pay of his credit in ye other side the intent & meaning of this record is that he, said Deacon Woodberry, does acknowledge hereby that he hath received of his debts due unto him eighteen pounds. At ye same town meeting of the selectmen Deputy Dodge brought in an account of forty eight days days service at General Court at 2s-6d per day or 15s per week amounting to 06lbs-00s-00d at which time said Deputy Dodge did a knowledge the receipt of by allowing of his several rates and money already received the full & just sum 05-11-07 so there remains due unto ye said Dodge for said service 00-08-05. At ye same meeting of the selectmen, Constable William Elliott reckoned for a Town Rate with said selectmen bearing date ye 9th day of December 1689 and made appear paid by said Elliott to ye satisfaction of said Selectmen ye full & just sum of 23-08-03 Rest due unto said Elliott by account at ye same meeting as referring to money paid unto Deputy Dodge six shillings & nine pence & in pay twelve shillings & six pence & is to be allowed said Money & pay unto said Elliott out of the overplus of the Country Rates committed to his hands to collect, thth said rates bearing date one of them ye 20 of December 1689, the other bearing date ye 13 day of January 00-19-00. th The 19 of June 1690. At a meeting of the selectmen at ye house of Deacon Peter Woodberry, William Elliott, then Constable, did pay several abatements made upon several persons in their country rate, by.ye selectmen and other payments allowed by said Selectmen the full and just sum of in rate pay one third money. 02-09-06
