At a meeting of the Selectmen the 9 of December 1689 there were chosen Surveyors for the
Highways viz. Joseph Herrick to survey from the meeting house to Wenham bounds on the country
road & Richard Ober from the meeting house to Manchester bounds both highways & bridges
3ly Sergeant Joseph Morgan from the ferry to the meeting house & so all along the outlet as far as
is necessary for the town’s use: whose year is to begin from the day of the date hereof of till one
whole year be expired.
9: December 1689: at a meeting of the Selectmen there was a country rate & half made to be
paid in money amounting to12lb-07s-11d
Constable Samuel Morgan his part is12lb-07s-11d
Constable William Elliott his part is12-14-03

9: of December 1689 there was a town rate made amounting to 46-11-06 Whereof
Constable Samuel Morgan’s part is 22l-11-03d one third to be paid in money, Constable William
Elliotts his part is 23-17-03 one third to be paid in money
Some total 46-11-06
Received of Constable Robert Coy in oats and barley and allowance for transportation the
sum of ten pounds three shillings and ten pence it being in part of the Town of Beverly’s rate to the
