At a meeting of the Selectmen 14 July 1682.
We whose names are underwritten being chosen & empowered by the town of Beverly as a
committee for surveying & viewing, renewing & confirming of ye bounds of all lands of any or every

particular property in ye said town bounding upon ye town Common have therefore met upon ye 5
of June 1682 upon the farm which was formerly Mr. John Blackleach’s now in ye possession of John
West & Thomas West son of the said John West upon ye said land formerly Richard Gardner’s but
now in possession of said John & Thomas West: & have found ye bounds of said farm & the other
land formerly Gardner’s as follows: (viz) ye first bounds on ye West side of ye said farm is a steak
with a little heap of small stones round about ye said stake: standing in a clump of small bushes upon
ye beach between ye sea & ye fresh pond butting on ye said farm; or adjoining: a second bound is
another stake standing in the edge of ye pond against a point of land which have elbowing into ye said
pond & from ye said stake. Ye 3d bounds is two maple trees growing both together out of one root
both of them marked on four sides standing on ye northwest side of the said pond by ye edge of ye

upland & from thence a 4 bounds of said farm is a black oak marked on ye four sides with a heap
of stones about ye root of it: standing at ye upper corner of ye plain westwards on ye west corner of

ye said farm & from thence northwards or thereabouts: a 5 bounds is a white oak marked on four
sides standing on a ridge of land called Gravelly Ridge & from thence northeast or more easterly is

a 6 bounds which is a great white oak marked on ye four sides being a corner bounds also of ye lot
formerly Gardner’s aforesaid & from thence to another great white oak being a 2d bounds of the
aforesaid lot standing northeast or thereabouts from the first & from thence to a white oak being a
3d bounds standing eastward from the second marked on four sides and from thence southward or
thereabouts to a black oak marked on ye four sides it being the fourth & last bounds of ye said lot

& ye same black oak aforesaid is also a 7 bounds of the said farm: the aforesaid lot & ye farm
adjoining together & from thence east or more to southeast to 2 maple trees both of them marked it

being ye 8 bounds of said farm: standing by a brook call by ye name of Clay brook on ye north side
of ye said brook & from said maples southeast or more southerly to a white oak marked on four sides
standing at ye head of ye creek called Chubbs Creek ye said bounds also being ye bounds of Nicholas
Woodbury’s farm: & from thence to another bounds by ye seaside: to ye east of ye marsh ground on
ye point commonly call by ye name of Chubbs Point.
