1684-07-24[Selectmen July 24, 1684] Received July 24, 1684 from Mr. John Giles of Beverly on said Beverly’s account of their rates eight pounds in country pay by money & troopers allowance I say received p. me. James Russell At the same meeting said Constable John Giles reckoned with the Selectmen for a town rate th bearing date 6 day of March 1683/2 and satisfied. Only said Giles remains debtor unto the town eight shillings and eight pence. Desperate debts or rather losses allowed: viz.: Tho. Chubb jun.. 8s.: 4d. Samuel Stone 2s.: 6d. Robert Morgan 2s.: 6d. Francis Pierce. 2s.:6p. Tho. Widger 13s. Will.Chubb 2s.: 6d. Tho. Pickett 4s.: 6d. the abovesaid eight shillings & eight pence is allowed unto the said Giles for transportation.
