1684-06-25[Selectmen June 25, 1684] 25:6: ‘84. At a meeting of the Selectmen there was a rate made for Mr. Hale’s maintenance and committed to constable Edward Dodge to collect and gather amounting to 47 £: 12s.: 3d. all of which he was to pay unto Serg. Peter Woodbury as one of the Selectmen in money eight pounds eighteen shillings and to Mr. Hale in rate pay 26 £: 5s. and the overplus being twelve pounds nine shillings & three pence out of which he was to defray the charge his part for Mr. Hale’s firewood th from the time he was chosen constable to the 15 of August ‘84 and to return the remainder of the overplus unto the Selectmen for the use of the town. This likewise for Mr. Hale’s maintenance. At the same meeting of the Selectmen there was a rate made & delivered unto constable William Livermore to collect & gather amounting unto 2 £: 5s.: 11d. of which he was to pay unto Sergeant John Hill as one of the Selectmen in money for the use of Mr. Hale 8 £: 1s.: 1d. and to Mr. Hale in rate pay 26 £: 5s. and the overplus being 7 £: 19s.: 10d. out of which he was to defray his part for th Mr. Hale’s firewood from the time he was chosen constable until the 15 of August ‘84 & to return the remainder of the overplus unto the Selectmen for the use of the town. 25:6: ‘84. At a meeting of the Selectmen there was chosen by said Selectmen Philip Babson to serve in the office of a packer for the Town of Beverly for one whole year from the date hereof.
