1683-12-14[Selectmen December 14, 1683] 14:10: ’83 at a meeting of the Selectmen at the house of Ensign Corning said Selectmen then and there did make two rates for the country and committed them the said rates on to Constable John Giles the one of them amounting unto 9 £: 1s.: 10d. in money the other of them amounting in such country pay as the treasure’s warrant did require 9 £: 1s.: 10d.. At the same meeting of the Selectmen there were two rates made for the use of the country: and committed to Constable Richard Ober to collect and gather, the one of them did amount to in money 9 £: 8s. 4d. And the other in such country pay as the treasure’s warrant did then require did amount to 9 £: 8s. 4d. or thereabout.
