At a meeting of the Selectmen 23 of June 1683 there was a rate made for Mr. Hale his
maintenance and firewood amounting to 87 £: 7s. 6d. the one half to be paid in money Constable
Ober’s part 42 £: 16s.: 6d. Constable Giles his part 44: 11: 00 ordered to pay Mr. Hale and provide
his firewood by equal proportion.
