At a meeting of the selectmen the 6 of March 1683 there were chosen for surveyors of
highways for the year ensuing Roger Haskell and John Bennett, Roger Haskell for all country and
town highways to the northward of the gate by Andrew Elliott’s and John Bennett for all to the
southward of said gate.

At a meeting of the selectmen the 6 of March 1683 there were chosen for surveyors for
fences for the year ensuing John Grover & Joseph Morgan and it is ordered that all general fences
shall be sufficiently made up by the tenth of April next and to be kept up till the sixteenth of October.

At the same meeting March 6 1683 it was agreed by the selectmen that the order about swine
made the last year shall be continued for this year and Christopher Read is deputed to see to the
execution of said order and to have the penalty provided in said order for his pains.

At a meeting of the Selectmen the 6 March 1683 there was a town rate made amounting to
32 £: 16s. Constable John Giles his part17 £: 10s. and Constable Richard Ober’s part is 5 £: 6s.
