1683-12-28[Selectmen December 28, 1683] 28:10: ‘83. At the meeting of the Selectmen at the house of Sergeant John Hill then reckoned th with Joseph Dodge who was chosen Constable on the 14 day of March 1681 and did serve the year ensuing the date thereof and did gather the then rate for the building of the meeting house which did amount to two hundred six pound and ten shillings in money and said Dodge hath paid and satisfied said said rate according to order except it be one pound six shillings which said Joseph is to pay unto John Dodge for his service as deputy at former General courts. At the same meeting of the Selectmen at the same time and place reckoned with abovesaid Constable Joseph Dodge for three country rates & have committed to him whilst Constable and said Dodge have paid and satisfied according to said rates in full except it be thirty shillings remaining in said Dodge’s hands due unto the town.
