At a meeting of the Selectmen 10 of December 1680 Sergeant John Hale and Sergeant John
Patch were appointed to lay out the half acre of land to Goodman Pride formerly granted him by the
town.

At a meeting of the Selectmen 10 of December 1680 the said Selectmen agreed with William
Hoar sen. that the said Hoar shall keep the key of the meetinghouse door and is to ring the bell on
Lord’s days in the season thereof and for all other meetings that the town or church shall have
occasion of and as he shall have orders for burials etc. and shall sweep the meetinghouse as is
necessary and usual keep and turn the glass and do in all respects as Goodman Bailey hath done
before him in that respect. And further the said Hoar is to ring the meetinghouse bell at nine of the
clock every night a sufficient space of time and as is usual in other places. In consideration whereof
the said Hoar is to have for his pains as Goodman Bailey had viz. of every family in town one peck
of corn per year.
