1678-01-22[Selectmen January 22, 1678] ndth At a meeting of the Selectmen 22 of the 11 1677 the said Selectmen in behalf of the town have with and by the consent & free choice of Joshua Turland put out the said Joshua Turland, a servant to John Hill, with him to live, serve and abide from the day of the date and to one whole year be fully completed & and ended to do him true and faithful service during the said time and not to absent himself by day nor night without his said master’s license and to obey his said master’s commands in all things lawful and honest and in case of neglect of his duty, his said master is to give him correction accordingly in consideration whereof the said John Hill is to find and allow his said servant convenient meat, drink and apparel, washing and lodging in sickness and in health.
