1676-03-09th At a meeting of the selectmen 9 of March 1675/6 it was ordered by the said selectmen that th all swine belonging to the town of two months old and upward shall be sufficiently ringed by the 20 th of this instant March and shall be kept ringed the whole year and shall be yoked by the 10 April next th ensuing and shall be kept yoked till the 16 of October next and in defect hereof everyone shall pay for everyone of his swine contrary to this order being either unyoked or unringed 12d. per day for every day’s deficiency and John Sampson is hereby pointed and empowered to see this order duly executed and is to have the forfeiture expressed in the said order for his pains. At the said meeting of the selectmen Josiah Roots Sr. and Benjamin Balch Sr. are chosen and appointed by the said selectmen Surveyors of Highways to see that all highways that come under the charge of Surveyors of Highways be kept in good repair as the law requires. At the same meeting of the selectmen Humphrey Woodberry Sr. and Anthony Wood were chosen and appointed by the said selectmen Surveyors of Fences and are required to take care that all fences that come under the charger of Viewers of Fences be sufficiently made up and kept in repair as the law requires and it is ordered that the general fence of the general field shall be sufficiently made up by the fifth day of April next ensuing.
