At a meeting of the selectmen the 6 day of March 1671 their being present

There were chosen for the surveyors of highways John West & William Dodge jun.
There were also chosen for viewers of the fences John Knights & Thomas Pickton.
It is also ordered by the Selectmen that all swine belonging to the town from two months old

& upwards shall be sufficiently ringed by the 20 day of this instant March & by the 10 of April
following to be sufficiently yoked & and so to continue the whole year ensuing only yoked until the

16 October & upon the defect hereof after legal warning every one shall pay for every one of the
swine unringed and unyoked contrary to this order 12 D. per head for every day’s deficiency &
Harvey Bailey is deputed to see this order executed & to take the forfeit for his pains.
It is also ordered that those men deputed to view fences shall see all fences belonging to the

town sufficiently fenced according to law by the 9 of April 1671.
