ScanIon, Mayor Referred to Legal Affairs and Accounts 175 Communications from Other City Officers and Boards: #308 Honorable City Council City Hall Beverly, MA 01915 Dear Honorable Council: RE: Traffic lights, Rantoul & Cabot Street We have received numerous complaints about the new traffic lights at Rantoul & Cabot Street. When heading towards Salem, on Cabot Street, the Rantoul Street traffic lights are visible and somewhat confusing to motorists. This is very hazardous, as motorists may be seeing a Green light for Rantoul Street, while actually a Red light exists for Cabot Street. One Beverly resident has written to the State Highway Department to let his feelings be known, and the state has referred them back to us, City of Beverly. The state engineer is recommending the installation of Iouvered lenses for the Rantoul Street signal housings. Please take the necessary action to have these lenses installed at this location. This could prevent an accident at this location, and a possible liability suit towards the City of Beverly. Very truly yours, Dennis O. Tarsook, Traffic Sergeant Referred to Public Service and Aid #309 Honorable City Council City Hall Beverly, MA 01915 Dear Honorable Council: RE: Request for Stop Sign, Hale Street at Cabot Street We have been asked to look into the possibility of placing a STOP sign on Hale Street at Cabot Street. We have investigated this location and determined a STOP sign meets the warrants and should be placed at this location, and would make the area safer for motorists and pedestrians. In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 89, Section 9, of the Massachusetts General Laws, and Chapter 14, Section 86, Revised Ordinances of the City of Beverly, we request the following stop sign; ADD: Hale Street, westbound drivers on Hale Street at Cabot Street.
