At a meeting of the Selectmen March 4 1783.
Ordered the Treasury to pay Robert Standley 41/8 for abatement of Peter Glover’s and Luke
Woodberry’s taxes in his list, they being in the enemy’s hands and left nothing to pay with.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mary Roberts 24/ abatement of her husband’s poll tax, he
dying at York.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay to Benjamin Smith£ 13.7.0 been for money he advanced to
procuring a soldier in Class No. 1 in 1782.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay to Elizabeth Thorndike 24/ being over taxed that sum in 1782.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Sarah Patch 4/ over taxed that sum in 1782.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Stephen Waters 25/1 abatement of his taxes, he belonging to
Danvers.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Conant 12/ for warning two town meetings.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mona Butman 48/, being under poor circumstances.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Jonathan Standley 27/ for extraordinary charge on the Highways
in his Ward which occurred after he had to return his list.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Robert Standley 14/7 of it for abatement of Peter Glover’s hard
money tax in his list and 7/ for abatement of Benjamin Woodberry’s tax, being under poor
circumstances.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Peter Pride Jr. £ 6.13.4 for keeping District School in the Farm
Ward this winter past in two orders.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mary Roberts 10/ abatement of her husband’s poll tax in
1781, died abroad.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Wadden15/, being extreme poor for to procure necessaries
of life with.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Doctor Israel Spofford £ 6.19.0 for his account for doing for
sundry persons viz.
Mary Woodberry 12/ Suzanne Ellinwood’s child at Daniel Woodberry’s 18/ for Andrew Gage’s
family 37/6 for Walter Simonton of Falmouth 41/ for a child of Eliza Howard’s 6/ for wid. Lydia
Hales when sick at Col. Herrick’s 24/6 as more fully will appear as per his account on file.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Aaron Francis 16/8 abatement of his poll in the continental tax
of April last, he then belonging to the Continental Army.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Raymond Jr. 16/8 for abatement of his poll in the
continental tax of April last, he then belonging to the Continental Army.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Josiah Batchelder Esq. 6/ for examination, warrant and trial
before the removal of Jemime Dodge, a poor person belonging to the Town of Ipswich.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Isaac Chapman one pound nineteen shillings and four
pence being for money he advanced towards procuring a soldier in 1782 in Class No. 12.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Beckford 19/ being for money he advanced towards
procuring a soldier in the Continental Army in the year 1782 in Class No. 12.
Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Roundy 9/8 being for money he advanced more than
his proportion towards procuring a soldier in the Continental Army in 1782 in Class No. 12.
