1783-04-01 (2)[Selectmen April 1, 1783] st At a Meeting at the Selectmen April 1, 1783 the following agreement was made... I, the subscriber, covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen of the Town of Beverly to keep and maintain James May, a poor child under their care, the full term of one year commencing on the seventh day of April instant and for to find for the said James May good and sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging and apparel during the whole of said term, doctor and nursing excepted, for and in consideration of the sum of three pounds twelve shillings to be paid one moiety at the expiration of six months and the other moiety at the year’s end. John Pollard I, the subscriber, covenant and promise and agree to and with the Selectmen of Beverly to keep and maintain Molly Ellinwood, a poor child under their care, the full term of one year commencing on the th 7 of April instant and to find and provide for the said Molly good and sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging and apparel the whole of said term, doctor bills and nursing excepted, for and in consideration of the sum of two shillings per week to be paid one moiety in six months and the other moiety at the years’ end. Mary Morse I, the subscriber, hereby covenant, promise and agree to and with the Selectmen, as Overseers of the Poor of the Town of Beverly, to keep & maintain Molly Parsons, a poor child under their care, the th full term of one year commencing on the 7 of April instant and to find and provide for and unto the said Molly good and sufficient meat, drink, washing and apparel in sickness and in health, doctor’s bills and extra nursing excepted, for and in consideration of the sum of seven pounds sixteen shillings to be paid one moiety in six months and the other moiety at year’s end. as witness my handJames Patch
