1782-07-20th At a meeting of the Selectmen of the Town of Beverly July 20 1782. They constituted and appointed Lieut. Caleb Balch of said Town to appear in their room and stead rd at the house of in the Town of York in the County of York on Tuesday the 23 instant and at other time and places if necessary and in their behalf to prove and support on trial the claim the Town of Beverly hath to one Pallatiah McDonald, a soldier, enlisted and mustered for the Town of Beverly for three years in the Continental Army in the year 1781 which soldier is claimed by the Town of Buxton in said County of York and to have full power and authority to act and do anything relative to said soldier that he shall think necessary.
