1782-05-02nd At a meeting of the Selectmen May 2 1782. th They ordered that a Town Meeting should be warned and held on Friday the 10 day of May instant at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the stated place for holding Town meetings in said Town for the purposes of choosing one or more persons to represent them in the General Court appointed to be convened and held for the government service at the State House in Boston or such other as may hereafter be appointed for the General Court to convene at, agreeable to the Constitution, upon the last Wednesday of May instant and there was a warrant issued out to Constable Andrew Elliott to warn the same accordingly. nd At a meeting of the Selectmen May 2 1782. th They ordered that a Town Meeting should be warned and held on Friday the 10 day of May instant at 3 o’clock in the afternoon at the stated place for holding of Town meetings in said Town to be warned by the Constables posting up notifications agreeable to a vote of the Town. 1ly. To see what sum of money they will grant to be assessed and raised on the polls and estates of this Town for the purposes of paying the Town’s debts and defraying the necessary charges arising within the same and give such directions relative to paying said debts and charges as they shall think proper. 2ly. To choose some person to serve Constable in the room of Joseph Lovett and Robert Haskell, they refusing to serve and to see if the Town will excuse said Joseph Lovett and Robert Haskell and Israel Thorndike from paying their fines for not serving as Constable and act thereon as they think best. 3ly. To choose some person or persons to be their agent to continue their application to the General Court to have their taxes abated etc. etc. 4ly. To see what they will do relative to the powder and ball which have been delivered of the Town stock by their Committees and officers to sundry persons which remain unpaid for and act thereon as they shall think proper. 5ly. To see if the Town will do anything relative to the claims of the heirs of Israel Andrews to the landing at Frost Fish Brook. And give such directions relative to said landing as they may think proper. 6ly. To act on the petition of Capt. Eleazar Giles praying the Town would pay him the money they owe him and make good that he has received of the Town, it then being in a depreciated state and act thereon as may be thought for the best. 7ly. To act on the petition of Benjamin Beckford relative to the run of water that is so prejudicial to the said Beckford. nd And there was a warrant issued out to Constable Andrew Elliott 2 to warn the same accordingly.
