1782-02-28 (further entry)th At a meeting of the Selectmen Feby. 28 1782. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Isaac Chapman five hundred and thirty pounds eight pence hard money as one of this Town’s Committee for procuring of the Continental Soldiers for this Town for three years or during the war in the year 1781, to be accountable for the same. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. Isaac Chapman £ 15.0.0 for the above said purpose. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Baker £ 6.10.1 as one of the Committee for Procuring of the above said man for enabling him to perform that service. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. John Francis 33/ hard money to balance his account as one of the Committee for Procuring the above said Continental men. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Baker £ 13.12.3 in full of his account for Selectmen, Committees and Town meeting expenses at his house as per his account on file in the Town Clerk’s Office.
