At a meeting of the Selectmen of Beverly the 8 of June 1782 the following license was granted viz
We, the Selectmen of Beverly, in consequence of an act of the General Court of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts passed March 7, 1781 at public vendue, etc. do hereby grant license and authority
to Capt. Nicholas Thorndike and Henry Thorndike to act as auctioneers jointly and severally for this
town for one year from this date.
