1781-03-06th At a meeting of the Selectmen Mar. 61781. Ordered the Treasurer to pay the wife of Nicholas Carroll £ 22.1.0 for executing the office of midwifery to Susanna Ellinwood 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Corning £ 25, over taxed that sum in 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay wid. Mara Butman sixty pound of abatement of part of her tax in 1780, under poor circumstances. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Benjamin Pickett £ 30 for shaving John Martin one year expiring on first February last. Ordered the Treasurer pay Lieut. Samuel Cole £ 764.4.0 as one of the Committee for procuring the militia in 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Cleaves fifty pounds, being over taxed that sum in 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Nathaniel Clark three hundred pounds for keeping his mother three months, expiring on the 7th of March instant. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Constable Weeden Cole one hundred ninety-seven pounds twelve shillings being for abatement in his lists as followeth. 47.0.0 Thomas Herrick Cole’s, tax long in captivity. 67.15.0 Joseph Obear’s tax, in the hands of enemy. 20.10.0 Alexander Carrico’s tax, in captivity. 17.0.0 for one Lehay’s tax, absconded. 22.5.0 William Magery’s tax, in captivity. 23.2.0 Jeremiah Thorndike’s tax, died abroad. £197.12.0 Ordered the Treasurer to pay Henry Herrick one hundred and sixty-seven pounds ten shillings together with three hundred and thirty-three pounds ten shillings which he discounted on account of an order of his late father Henry Herrick Esq., late Town Treasurer, gave on Constable Robert th Standley in favor of Captain Joseph Rae. Dated November 161780 said order being not accounted for in the settlement with said Treasurer’s executor, is for keeping Grammar School one month still 8th instant. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Constable William Hazeltine for abatements in his list of assessment in year 1780 as followeth.
