1781-07-03rd At a meeting of the Selectman July 3 1781. Ordered the Treasure to pay Constable William Hazeltine two hundred and thirty-three pounds in full for abatements and his account as followeth £ 180 of said sum for warning of a number of town meetings the year past; £ 6.16.0 for Israel Green jr’s highway tax it appearing that he had worked out said tax; abatement of Jonathan Leech tax in his list, being poor, been taken by the enemy etc. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Henry Herrick £ 600 in part for keeping the grammar school in this town, not settled for. rd At a meeting of the Selectmen July 3 1781. th They ordered that Town meeting should be verbally warned and held on Friday the 6 day of July instant at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the stated place for holding of town meetings in said town to see what measures of town will come into for procuring of the beef and clothing that is sent for from this Town by government for the use of the Army and raise money for that purpose and act anything relative to that affair as they shall think proper. And was a warrant was issued out to Constable Benjamin Obear to warn the Inhabitants of the First Parish and a warrant was issued out to Constable Jonah Trow Jr. to warn the Inhabitants of Precinct of Salem & Beverly accordingly.
