1781-06-25th At a meeting of the Selectmen June 25 781. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Hon. Richard Derby Esq. seven hundred forty-seven pounds, it being abatement of part of his personal estate tax in the year 1780, he paying taxes for the same at Salem, it not belonging to this Town. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Capt. John Woodberry twelve pound as extraordinary charge as Surveyor of Highways in 1781. th At a meeting of the Selectmen Nov. 61781. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Timothy Leech £ 355.7.6 old emission for abatements of Richard Derby Esq., tax for personal estate, he paying for the same in Salem. We the Selectmen, in consequence of a resolve past the Hon. Senate and House of th Representatives the 7 March 1781 do thereby grant license & authority to Nicholas Thorndike & William Leech to act as auctioneers jointly or severally for this Town for one year from this date.
