1781-06-20th A meeting of the Selectmen June 201781. th They ordered that a Town Meeting should be verbally warned and held on Monday the 25 day of June instant at the stated place for holding of town meetings in said town at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. 1ly. To see what instructions they will give their Selectmen or Assessors relative to their assessing the monies granted to mend their Highways or consider said grant of monies for mending Highways or raise some further sum for said purpose and act and do any thing relative to the Highways, and repairing the same as they shall thank proper. 2ly. To see what directions they will give their Constables and Treasurer relative to their receiving paper money for those taxes that are not by them collected or received and pass such votes relative to that affair as they shall think will be for the best. 3ly. To choose a Pound Keeper in the room of Osmon Trask, refusing to serve. 4ly. To see what measures the Town will come into for the procuring of the militia sent for by Government to go to Rhode Island and act anything relative to that affair as may be thought proper. And there was a warrant issued out by the Town Clerk to Constable Benjamin Obear to warn the same verbally accordingly. th At a meeting of the Selectmen June 20 1781. Ordered the Treasurer to pay either of the Selectmen £ 6022.18.0 in full for paying for the th beef sent for by Government to this Town agreeable to a resolve of the General Court of the 4 of December 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Doc. Israel Woodberry £ 86.4.0 eighteen pounds 7/0 said sum for abatement of his highway tax in 1780, he working it out. The same etc. £ 67.9 abatement of his Negro’s poll tax in 1780, he being in captivity.
