1780-06-06th At a Meeting of Selectmen June 61780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Bartlett Esq.£ 50 for abatement of his son’s poll tax, missing, if alive and on account of losses by sea the winter past. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Samuel Giles £ 11.4.0 abatement of his son’s poll, died abroad, he being extreme poor. Ordered the Treasurer to pay John Baker £ 13.9.0 missing, if alive, for his tax 1780. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Bartholomew Smith thirty-seven pound twelve shillings, abatement of his taxes in 1779 & 1780, being long missing, if alive and left nothing to pay the same with. Ordered the Treasurer to pay William Langdell Jr. £ 56.4.0 being for abatement of his taxes 1780, he being long absent, if alive. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Lieut. Samuel Cole£ 11.4.0 abatement of his son’s poll tax, absent, if alive. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Jonathan Perkins one hundred eighty pounds for keeping the Grammar School the months of April & May as per agreement. Ordered the Treasurer to pay Joseph Wood one thousand pounds for to procure necessaries for the families of the soldiers in the Continental Army. Ordered the Treasurer to pay teaching Robert Roundy£ 75 in full for keeping of his sister th Deborah until the 7 July next.
