1780-05-23d At a Meeting of the Selectmen May 23 1780. Capt. Joseph Rae presented his account as one of the Committee appointed to procure the Militia for this Town to the amount of £ 3150.0.0 which was examined and allowed to him as it appeared he had paid away the same for that purpose the year past and is in full of the money he received out of the Town Treasury for the purpose and he is hereby discharged for the same. Ordered the Treasury to pay Capt. Joseph Rae fifty-two pounds twelve shillings £ 40.0.0 of said sum for his time and expense in procuring of the Militia for the Town the year past & £ 12.12.0 for painting and for a new head to a drum belonging to his company.
